Article in Colliers, May 26, 1945. “Bobby-Soxers Find the Sawdust Trail,” by William F. McDermott. This was one of the first articles about the YFC movement to appear in a national magazine. McDermott was a Presbyterian minister who had been the Religious News editor of the Chicago Daily News from 1928-1945. He also, as a free-lance writer, wrote Chicago-based articles for several national magazines, usually on a religious theme. The article described the YFC clubs springing up in several cities and favorably described how the meetings combined youthful energy and popular music with sincere Christian evangelism aimed at young people in their teens and twenties, including servicemen and women.
